Open Source Software

The following open-source software has been produced by the eReefs research teams and is available for re-use in other applications:

CSIRO’s Environmental modelling suite includes the C code for CSIRO’s Simple Hydrodynamic Ocean Model (SHOC) and the related river-tracer and biogeochemistry and sediments models. Used to generate the eReefs GBR4, GBR1 and RECOM data products.

Decommissioned Tools

The following tools were once part of eReefs but have now been decommissioned:

Marine Water Quality Dashboard

Sea-surface temperatures, chlorophyll, sediments and light

This website was hosted by the Bureau of Meteorology, and enabled access to near real-time data on sea surface temperatures, chlorophyll levels, sediments and light for the entire Great Barrier Reef.

The data products available via this website included ocean colour datasets derived from MODIS satellite observations using an algorithm developed by CSIRO as part of eReefs phase 2.

The dashboard was decommissioned in December 2020, but the Marine Water Quality data is still available from the Bureau of Meteorology’s data catalog and may be visualised in CSIRO’s eReefs Data Explorer.
