The eReefs data, software and web platforms were created by a collaboration of Australian Commonwealth and State Government agencies with funding from the Australian Government.

Licence Terms

Copyright (and any other intellectual property rights, if any) for content on this website is owned by the eReefs collaboration partner agency that created the content, and licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC-BY), with the exception of:

  • The eReefs logo
  • The logos of the eReefs collaboration partner agencies
  • Any content or material supplied by third parties including photos
  • Images and personal information of individuals
  • Any material protected by a trademark
  • Content on this website where other licensing terms or restrictions are specifically noted.

The eReefs collaborators have undertaken reasonable enquiries to identify material owned by third parties and secure permission for its reproduction. To the extent that copyright subsists in a third party, it remains with the original owner and permission may need to be obtained to reuse their material. As far as practicable, material for which the copyright is owned by a third party, or to which a different license applies, will be clearly labelled.

Attribution Requirements

Under a CC-BY licence:

  • You are required to attribute the material in a way that recognises the the author of the material (if specified), the copyright held by the author’s agency, and to cite the eReefs website you retrieved the material from as the source of the material.

    If no author or preferred citation is mentioned, then please attribute the material as “© Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) 2025.”

  • You must also link to the CC-BY-4.0 licence terms and indicate if you have made any changes to the material, but you must not do this in a way that suggests that any of the eReefs authors or collaboration agencies endorse you or your use of that material.

Attribution in Scientific Publications

If you use eReefs data or software in a scientific publication, please also include the following acknowledgement:
